Guide to Fade Proof Hair Color

Your color can last between hair color appointments.  Here's how:

  1. Wait 48 hours to shampoo your hair after your salon coloring service. The color can only be guaranteed when using color safe shampoos and conditioners.  We recommend L'Oréal Professionel Vitamino Color Shampoo and Conditioner, as well as the Vitamino Color deep conditioner and Vitamino Color 10-in-1 leave-in perfecting spray at minimum for at home maintenance.

  2. Shampoo less frequently, if possible.   Too frequent shampooing will diminish your color.  Every other day is
    recommended.

  3. L'Oréal Professionel Vitamino Color Series contains UV protection. Antioxidant protection and sunscreen protection from UVA/UVB is crucial to maximize your haircolor.  We offer SunBum hair and scalp sunscreen spray, as well as SunBum pre-swim protecting spray (sold in salon only).

  4. Follow up your chemical service with our exclusive and completely customized Evo Fab Pro Customized Color Conditioner color refreshing conditioners.  Each bottle is custom mixed, just for you, to match your current shade.  This can help to blend grey and keep color refreshed in between services.  This can extend your color service so you visit the salon less often.  Evo Fab Pro Customized Color Conditioner locks in color and nutrients, as well as restores faded hair color to the hair.

  5. Rinse your hair with the coolest water you can handle to help seal the cuticle, and to keep the artificial color from being rinsed down the drain.

  6. Cover your head when you are outside by wearing headgear to protect from damaging UVA/UVB rays.

  7. Heat and chemicals damage the hair. Blow drying, ironing, or over-processing can damage the cuticle of the hair. Use hair color and heat protecting products every time. Hot styling tools are hot enough to melt the cortex of the hair if used improperly or excessively. Hair BURNS at 420 degrees, so with those flat irons that advertise 450 degress, the only thing you are accomplishing is the melting of your hair.

  8. Be sure to use a shower cap (or simply pull your hair into a ponytail) to protect it from getting wet while bathing or swimming. If your hair must get wet while swimming be sure to rinse your hair in fresh water and use SunBum pre-swim protector (sold in-salon only) just before getting into the pool. This way it isn't able to absorb as much pool water/chlorine/salt water because it is already saturated with protective oils. Sea salt is very drying as well. After swimming follow up with L'anza Clarifying Shampoo to remove chemicals and impurities.

  9. Salon only professional products are only guaranteed if purchased in an authorized salon.
