- ABOUT THE COLORIST -
Twenty-seven years coloring hair.
Twenty-plus years teaching it.
Twenty-seven years coloring hair. Over 500 hours of advanced continuing education at the Redken Exchange. But the number that matters most: thousands — the number of stylists I've trained, coached, and educated across the country.
Trained at Redken 5th Avenue in New York and selected from over 500 applicants to become a Redken National Artist, I spent multiple years working stages coast to coast as a platform educator and manufacturer-certified trainer. I taught at major national hair shows including Premier Orlando and America's Beauty Show — not just demonstrating technique, but teaching the why behind it. Color theory. Formulation logic. Blonding. Balayage placement. Gray/grey blending. Corrections on every hair type that walked in. The science that separates a colorist from someone who applies color.
I've led hands-on workshops at distributor training centers, lectured at cosmetology schools, and rebuilt color programs in salons across the country. When Redken launched Hairdressers Against AIDS — the global initiative on behalf of UNESCO and L'Oréal — I was specially selected to be part of the small team that did the launch.
During my years as lead colorist at one of Seattle's top salons — voted Best Salon for Cut and Color by Seattle Magazine, 2022 and 2023 — I handled every complicated case that walked through the door, alongside the touch-ups, dimensional work, gray/grey coverage, and maintenance that kept long-term clients in the chair for years at a time.
In 2023, I built The Haircolor Studio now located in Seattle's Ravenna neighborhood, near the University of Washington and adjacent to University Village, to practice color the way I taught it — with intention, with precision, and with respect for the chemistry involved.
- HOW I WORK -
Triple-Bonded Color
Before any color is mixed, I read what's actually on your head — underlying pigment, prior color, porosity, breakage, mineral load. Most surprises in color come from skipping that step. We don't.
From there, the formula is built for your strand. Lift, tone, dimension, gray/grey blending, balayage, highlights, gloss — calibrated, not pulled from a chart. Bond support runs through the whole appointment. Hard water and mineral buildup come out first so the color does what it's supposed to do.
That's the Triple-Bonded Color Method — Seattle's only color appointment built around color and repair in the same session. Whatever brought you in — box dye that went sideways, brass you can't outrun, gray/grey you're finally ready to let breathe, a year of bad color you want done with — the appointment is built to leave your hair stronger than it walked in.
You leave with color that holds tone, hair that holds shape between visits, and a clear answer to the question every smart client wants to ask but rarely gets: what just happened on my head, and how do I keep it that way until I'm back in the chair.
- THE APPOINTMENT -
Every appointment is built around your hair.
Every appointment I do answers four questions in the same order: what's happening with your hair, why it's happening, what we're doing about it, and what to do at home so it holds.
1
Diagnose.
Before any product touches your hair, I read what's already there — underlying pigment, porosity, prior color, breakage, mineral load, hard water damage. Most surprises in color come from skipping this step. The hair color emergency room starts here.
2
Formulate.
Your color is custom-mixed for your strand — Redken-trained, calibrated to your skin, your lift level, and how you actually live. Inspiration photos tell me the goal. Color theory and formulation chemistry tell me how to get there. Single-process, double-process, gloss, gray/grey coverage and blending, gray/grey transitions, balayage, foilayage, highlights, lowlights, color correction — every formula is built from scratch, never pulled from a chart.
3
Apply.
Uninterrupted. Hand-placed. By appointment in Ravenna, near the University of Washington, adjacent to University Village. One guest at a time. No assistant taking over halfway through. No second client running on the other side of the salon, or right next to you.
4
Walk-Through.
You leave knowing exactly what's on your head, what just happened to your head — brand-new hair — and how to keep it that way between visits.
The colorist other colorists send their clients to.
- SERVICES -
What I work on.
✔
Corrective color and color correction — box dye removal, banding, brass, hot roots, lines of demarcation, green from well water, color you've been told can't be fixed. The Seattle hair color emergency room.
✔
Gray blending, gray coverage, and gray transitions — soft, multi-dimensional coverage; full transitions from colored hair to natural silver without a harsh grow-out line. A Seattle gray hair specialist for clients ready to grow it out the right way.
✔
Balayage, foilayage, and lived-in dimensional color — babylights, money-piece highlights, color melts, root smudges, lowlights. Hand-painted to grow out beautifully so you're not chained to the salon every four weeks.
✔
Custom blonde, brunette, red, and silver — single-process, double-process, and gloss work formulated to your tone, your skin, your lift level, and how you actually live. Toner and shine treatments included.
Precision haircuts and curly cuts — short, medium, long, thick, fine. Clipper cuts. Bang trims. Cuts shaped to your face, your texture, and how you actually wear your hair — not pulled from a dropdown menu.
✔
✔
Bond repair, built into every appointment — multi-bonder repair protocol, hard water and mineral removal, heavy-metal detox, deep conditioning, blowout. Full clinical claims on the Services page.
The cases other stylists refer out — or worse, guess their way through —
are the cases I built this studio to handle.
